Shannon Parnell
Owner, Director

Contemporary, Lyrical,
Ballet, Pointe, Preschool

Miss Shannon is the owner and director of Art in Motion and is certified to teach by written and oral examination in Ballet and Jazz by Dance Masters of America. Shannon began studying dance at the age of six and has had extensive dance training under the direction of Barbara Ellen Smartt and Wendy Graham. A graduate of Lee High School, she received additional training there as a student in the Dance Magnet Program and was honored to win the Outstanding Dance Magnet Award. As a performer, she has won many awards at dance competitions around the nation including Dance Masters of America, Professional Dance Teachers Association, Applause and Huntsville Panoply of the Arts Choreography Competition. Miss Shannon was also a member of Pointe Station Inc. and appeared in the annual performance of NOAH where she danced as a member of the Rainbow Corp, Tropical Bird, and Cow. She has attended workshops and seminars under national dance educators such as Keith Cross, Gus Giordano and Mira Popovich of Birmingham Southern College. She was also a performer in the 1997 production of Huntsville's Follies Way Off Broadway. Shannon has performed in productions for the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and as "Goodwill Ambassadors" at New Olympians International Show Team's Dance Festival in Cosumel, Mexico. Miss Shannon began teaching over 25 years ago and enjoys being able to share her love for the art of dance. Throughout her teaching years, she has choreographed many entertaining and award winning pieces for her students. She has won numerous Best Choreography awards and recently her piece “If God was one of us” made it into the Panoply Choreography Competition Finals. I am so  grateful  to have this opportunity to share my love of dance with all my dancers. I hope to inspire many more to follow their dreams. A.I.M. high and follow your heart!

Trish Meyer

Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Stretch and Conditioning

Miss Trish started her dance training at the age of 6 with Bobbie Hall and continued to perform and compete with many well known dance companies in the Huntsville area and spent her summers at Birmingham Southern College to continue her education. Throughout her youth she had extensive training in tap, jazz, ballet, modern, hip hop, lyrical and theatre and has made use of her hard work performing and winning countless awards and titles at Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, Showstoppers, Panoply of the Arts and numerous pageants. Miss Trish also had the honor of being chosen to perform with Hanna-Barbera Productions at the very first Big Spring Jam in Huntsville. Beginning her teaching career as an assistant and at age 17, Miss Trish almost immediately began teaching her own classes and choreographing countless routines for competitions, recitals and exhibitions. To expand her knowledge of dance she has traveled to Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas and New York and has attended numerous workshops and conventions. She has worked with notable choreographers including Gus Giordano, Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, Jackie Sleight, Frank Hatchett, Margueritte Derricks, and countless others. In the past few years Miss Trish has won 2 top choreography awards for Mid-South Dance Masters Chapter #41 and another top choreography award that she and Miss Shannon won as a team choreographing the piece “Coin Operated Boy”. She is certified by test to teach and has been a member of Dance Masters of America since 1991 and in 2012 became the President of Mid-South Dance Masters Chapter #41. Outside of dance Miss Trish is a substitute teacher with Huntsville City Schools and is very active in her children’s education working with County Commissioner Phil Riddick (Madison County Commission District 5) and his team on the Education Celebration benefiting the schools in his district. A.I.M. is privledged to have such a motivative,energetic and caring teacher on their staff!

Miss Maija began dancing at the age of seven under the direction of Linda Gooding and Bobbie Hall. She continued her dance training while competing at several nationally recognized organizations as Dance Masters of America, Dance Makers Inc, Dance Educators of America and Showstoppers.Ten years ago, Miss Maija began teaching students in many areas of dance including jazz, tap, ballet and hip-hop.In 2004, Miss Maija graduated from Bob Jones High School. In her years of doing choreography, Miss Maija's dances have been awarded Gold, Platinum, First Place, and many Overall awards as well as many specialty awards. Miss Maija is married to Ryan Galloway and is a proud mother of a beautiful little dancer Zane'. AIM is thrilled to have this energetic and fabulous teacher on their staff!

Cameron began studying dance at the age of five at Allegro Academy of Dance and eventually Art in Motion for 13 years. She also spent eleven of those competing, winning top scores and numerous judges awards. She has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and musical theatre and has traveled to numerous workshops to continue her education.  Cameron recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Alabama Huntsville with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education and is excited to be teaching Kindergarten at Farley Elementary School. She loves to be at the studio where she grew up and is so happy to share her love of dance with her students.

Miss Faith began dancing at the age of two at Susan and Vickie's. She then started dancing at Allegro Academy of Dance under the direction of Carol Jackson at the age of four. She continued her training in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and musical theatre and began competing at the age of six. In high school she continued training in all dance styles at Art in Motion. During her sophomore year she had the opportunity to attend and be a counselor for the SPARK Summer Dance Intensive. In her senior year of high school she had the honor of being chosen as one of the Merrimack Hall's Evening of Dance Emerging choreographers and has choreographed several pieces for Randolph Middle and High School theatre productions. Upon graduation, Faith attended Temple University where she was part of the In Motion student dance group where she had the opportunity to perform at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. she then was selected for the university's D1A dance team, The Diamond Gems. She traveled to the College Dance Team nationals where they finished 9th place in the game day category. Faith is now pursuing her degree in kinesiology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Miss faith feels privileged to be a part of the AIM staff and to share her love of dance with her students.

From an early age Shanice radiated with an undeniable passion for the arts. At the age of three she began dance classes and has received training in ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz and tap. Over time, she developed an understanding and appreciation for music, drama, creativity and storytelling that is now the very core of her being. At the age of seven Shanice was selected to join the Elite competition dance team at Allegro Academy of Dance and then Art In Motion with whom she traveled and competed with for more that 10 years. During high school she was also a member of the Sparkman High School Dance team which led to being a member of the Dancing Belles at Central State University from 201-2019. She also served as Co-Captain  and during her senior year joined Dayton Contemporary Dance Company Two as a pre-professional dancer. Upon graduation, Shanice received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and returned to her roots in Huntsville where she works in the field of social work, supporting and promoting the success of young people. Shanice is proud to be sharing her love of dance at the very studio she spent her formative dance years.
